JetBlue's Bold Winter Plans Out of Fort Lauderdale
JetBlue has announced exciting changes coming to Fort Lauderdale starting this December. The New York-based airline is not only bringing back popular routes it previously cut but also introducing all-new nonstop service to the Gulf Coast and East Coast.
Two Brand-New JetBlue Routes from Fort Lauderdale:
Launching December 4, JetBlue will begin nonstop flights from FLL to:
-
Norfolk International Airport (ORF) in Virginia – Twice daily service
-
Tampa International Airport (TPA) – Daily intra-Florida service
These additions reflect JetBlue's strategy to strengthen its Southeast network and offer more regional flexibility for travelers out of Fort Lauderdale.
Returning Routes for Popular Sun Belt Cities:
JetBlue is also restoring service to two previously suspended cities:
-
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) – Service resumes November 20 with twice-daily flights
-
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) – Returns December 4 with daily flights
These restored connections cater to both leisure and business travelers who rely on quick access between these major metro areas and South Florida.
More Departures, More Mint
Beyond the new routes, JetBlue is increasing frequencies to major hubs across the U.S., especially on transcontinental routes.
Expanded Service Includes:
-
Las Vegas (LAS)
-
Los Angeles (LAX)
-
Phoenix (PHX)
-
Raleigh-Durham (RDU)
-
Richmond (RIC)
Notably, JetBlue's premium "Mint" cabin will now be available on every Fort Lauderdale departure to the West Coast cities of LAS, LAX, PHX, and San Francisco (SFO). This move reflects JetBlue's commitment to delivering comfort and luxury even on cross-country flights.
Why Fort Lauderdale Matters to JetBlue
Fort Lauderdale has always held a special place in JetBlue's network. It was the airline's first destination after launching service from New York's JFK Airport 25 years ago. In fact, JetBlue recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a commemorative flight between JFK and FLL.
Last winter, JetBlue's Fort Lauderdale schedule saw a dip of about 6.5% in departures compared to the previous year. But the airline is making a strong comeback in 2025 with a growing schedule and new strategic routes.
"Fort Lauderdale has long been a key market for JetBlue, and we're excited to keep growing with the region," said Dave Jehn, JetBlue VP of Network Planning.
